Description

Use: widely used as plywood and for plywood panels. Extensively used in carpentry and for the construction of light boats. A particular use is for cigar boxes.

Characteristics: light wood, on average hard and not very compact. The sapwood is greyish in colour, distinct from the heartwood which is salmon pink with tones ranging from grey to red. 

Drying: drying is easy and not problematic.

Surface: medium to coarse texture, variable grain, straight or slightly wavy and intertwined. The application of varnishes does not cause any significant problems.  

Gluing: glues easily and holds well. Screw and nail joints are also easy.
