Description

Use: used in a manner similar to Makassar Ebony for luxury furniture, interior furnishings and wall-coverings. Compared to Makassar Ebony, it has the advantage of having a larger trunk, from which it is easier obtain larger veneers that are easier to work. 

Characteristics: the sapwood has shades ranging from white to light reddish-brown. The heartwood is dark, with different shades of black, permeated with many light streaks. Compared to Makassar Ebony, the colour is more opaque and not as bright. 

Drying: drying must be done slowly to avoid tearing.

Surface: compared to Makassar Ebony, the structure is not as fine and has more open pores.

Gluing: glue joints do not create any particular difficulties, unlike nail joints.
