Description

Use: widely used in cabinet-making. Widely used for veneers in furniture and fine furnishings. It is often used in pianos.

Characteristics: considered by many to be one of the most beautiful wood species. Warm red-orange colour, much more intense and pure than Black Cherry. Plus, unlike the latter, it does not tend to darken excessively over time and is therefore higher quality and more valued. However, logs without defects are very rare and, unfortunately, sometimes have green stripes.

Drying: easy to dry, but not for short periods of time since there is a risk of causing twisting and cracking.

Surface: straight grain and medium-high texture.

Gluing: joints with glue are solid and create no problems. For joints with screws, it is a good idea to pre-drill to prevent the wood from cracking.
