Description

Use: an easy to work wood that lends itself very well to be bent, which is why it is widely used in the production of sporting goods (such as parallel bars) and tool handles. Logs with little heartwood and a very light colour are sought after for medium-high end furniture.

Characteristics: sapwood and heartwood are difficult to distinguish. Light or pale brown colour. The central part tends to darken with time. Often with curls.

Drying: must be slow to prevent cracking.

Surface: straight grain and medium to coarse texture. It is easily sanded and varnished. Often painted with bright colours.

Gluing: glue joints are easy to make and strong. Pre-drilling is recommended when using screws or nails.
