Description

Use: because of its abundance and low price, the wood is used mainly for the production of mass-produced furniture and wall-coverings.

Characteristics: sapwood and heartwood are clearly differentiated. The sapwood is light while the heartwood is red-brown. Wood with high mechanical resistance.

Drying: drying must be done slowly. During this process, resin may be secreted from the sapwood.

Surface: fine texture with mostly intertwined grain. The resin content makes the wood very fragrant. Staining and varnishing are not excessively difficult. However, due to the resin in the sapwood, care must be taken in using polyester paint.

Gluing: the glue is easily absorbed.
