Description
Use: used for window frames, wall-coverings, in prefabricated houses and boats. Furthermore, since Douglas Fir trunks grow to considerable size, very long beams can be created that are suitable for the construction of ship decks, deck houses and bulkheads.
Characteristics: sapwood yellowish-white and heartwood yellowish-pink or very light brown. The characteristics of this wood also vary based on the time of year in which they are sliced (spring or autumn) and the area of origin (whether mountainous or coastal).
Drying: easy and fast.
Surface: grain generally straight or slightly wavy. Average consistency.
Gluing: the wood is worked well and easily.
