Use: used for the production of modern furniture, panelling, wood flooring, interior furnishings and, in general, for valuable veneers.
Characteristics: The sapwood can be up to 3 cm wide; it is whitish and unusable. The heartwood can come in different shades, even if it is mostly dark brown variegated with blackish stripes. A hard, heavy and durable wood for outdoor use. A wood very resistant to plant and animal parasites.
Drying: drying must be done slowly.
Surface: the grain is straight with a rather coarse texture. Its high content of various resins makes this wood rather difficult to stain and lacquer. It is advisable to use specific products, such as DD or polyurethane varnishes.
Gluing: glue joints are not very easy. It is advisable to use special products such as casein glue and synthetic resin. Pre-drilling is recommended when using screws and nails.
