Description
Use: a wood used for high-end interiors, furniture, carvings and all wooden objects where its white colour is particularly valued. In high demand for solid planks.
Characteristics: the sapwood and heartwood are not very different. The colour is almost white or yellowish-white. It is a wood that tends to change significantly over time; as it ages, it tends to darken and the annual rings become more pronounced.
Drying: after being sliced, the wood must be dried immediately to prevent yellowing due to exposure to light and air. It must be dried slowly and carefully, since the wood tends to warp and changes colour easily.
Surface: the surface is usually polished or stained. UV resistant varnishes are recommended to prevent the colour of the wood from changing over time.
Gluing: the joints are strong.
