Description

Use: used in the furnishings and to make pianos and other musical instruments.

Characteristics: sapwood and heartwood are clearly differentiated. The first is rosy, sometimes with a greyish or yellowish hue; when fresh, the heartwood is pale-pinkish, becoming brownish-red over time.

Drying: to be dried very carefully, given the ease with which this wood warps.

Surface: texture from fine to medium, grain mostly irregular. The particular structure of the fibres does not make the surface smooth. In any case, stains and varnishes can be applied. Attention must be paid to the possible presence of resin.

Gluing: both types of joints are easy to make, effective and durable.
