Description

Use: particularly used for stylish furniture, violin making, cabinet-making, veneers and interior laminates. It is also used to make pipes.

Characteristics: sapwood is narrow and yellowish, while the heartwood is pinkish-brown to reddish-orange. Exposure to light tends to age much this wood greatly and consequently to darken it. Sometimes it can have small spots: these are small, black and gummy deposits in the area of the annual rings, typical of this wood.

Drying: the drying process presents no problems and can be done quickly.

Surface: straight-grained and dense, fine textured, slightly figured.

Gluing: joints with glue, screws, nails hold perfectly.
